Fun With Team Members While our programs require a lot of hard work, there are also many opportunities for fun! Students gain friendships, chances to play with movement, and try new things.
Community Students create lasting bonds with team members through working hard together. Acrobatics requires levels of trust and respect that help students to connect with members of different ages and backgrounds.
Programs for Boys We are especially proud of how our Boy Programs (Beginning & Performing) have grown the last few years. We not only provide opportunities for boys to learn tricks and stunts, but also be creative and have chances to perform.
Performance Performing takes hours of practice, focus, and repetition. Students gain confidence to perform even when nervous and work together to put on spectacular shows.
Confidence Becoming confident in what they are physically capable of helps students to be confident in other areas of their life. We teach methods for learning from mistakes, dealing with stress and nervousness, and learning trust in their own capabilities that have benefits outside of our programs.
Support At Sequim Acrobatics we nurture community. We thrive because of the support of our local community. We teach our students to help each other, allowing them to find community in our classes too.
Precision A large part of learning acrobatics is being able to pay attention to small details. Small adjustments and spatial awareness can make a big difference in both individual and partner skills.
Problem Solving Learning to problem solve is an important skill learned in our programs. Our beginning students learn how basic skills build into harder variations and our advanced students put those variations together.
Unique Skills Our programs combine parts of other sports, allowing our students to try many things and find what their niche is. Not being limited allows for a continual learning process and for our students to constantly expand their skill set.
Balance Acrobatics is balance. Students improve balance in standing skills, but also upside down! Even our newest beginners will see the benefits quickly, and our advanced students will learn to balance in more difficult positions (like on the handstand blocks pictured above).
Communication Being able do partner skills requires excellent communication from everyone involved. Students learn to communicate effectively and respectfully with their coaches and with each other.
Strength Each student who joins our program starts with unique strengths and weaknesses. Acrobatics is an excellent way for students to get stronger because it uses all of the body. Students gain strength in larger muscle groups, but also in the small supporting muscles that promote stability and prevent injury.
Creativity Acrobatics is a wonderful creative outlet because of its endless possibilities. Students of all creativity levels are given opportunities to experiment and discover new ways of expression through movement, character work, dance, and much more!
Flexibility Flexibility is similar to strength. Each student has a different natural level when they start. Through time and practice flexibility can be harnessed and improved. Developing flexibility is useful outside of the gym: in other sports, living comfortably, or in injury prevention.
Dedication While some students are naturally more athletic or flexible, Acrobatics is something that students won't necessarily be good at right away. This teaches patience and how rewarding it is to work hard (sometimes for years!) for a skill. Not giving up even when it feels like progress isn't being made allows for growth in other areas.
Discipline Acrobatics takes time and repetition. Beginning students must master basic skills--which means doing them over and over (and over!) again. Performing students must practice the same routine many times before a show to make it look professional. Students learn that the more time they put in and the more consistently they work hard the more they get out of the experience.
Trust Learning to trust teammates to catch, lift and support is a vital skill students learn. Even in our beginning levels, our students must learn to trust their own capabilities and trust their coaches to help them with scary or difficult skills.
Expert Coaching Our coaches are dedicated to helping our students reach their potential safely. Coaching each student for their individual needs not only includes physical preparation, but also helping with mental and emotional blocks.
